Lord of the Flies is all over Dailykos today as the shocking groupthink cannibalizes a new target: Markos Moulitsas Zúniga.
Markos took the daring but admirable step of pointing out the obvious, namely, that Barack Obama is human and that not everything the man says is completely perfect or unassailable. Markos disagreed with Barack Obama's unusual decision to appear on Fox News for political gain, a stance seemingly at odds with his earlier delegitimization of that "news" network.
Immediately afterwards, a community disapproval and "official" disownment of Markos' words skyrocketed up to the recommended list. We should all take caution as we're seeing such irrational attachment to this icon of change, Barack Obama, that even the most innocuous and objective forms of dissent, questioning, and criticism have been villified. This is a recurrence of the same groupthink that supported George W. Bush. Evidently, so many people were so deeply touched by Barack's earlier cinematic performances, that their devotion now eschews logic.
The meltdown and pervasive sense of anxiety underscores a dramatic change in the dominant narrative's tone. They know Obama's mathematical temporary lead is wearing thin and the untimely reappearance of Reverend Wright will probably govern the public dislogue for the remainder of the week and the twilight moments of Barack Obama's campaign.
No wonder he doesn't want to answer questions...
Note: the original footage of the Waffle incident now has embedding disabled by request. This was the only one I could get so pardon the little Hamas fear-monger in the beginning; the focus is the Waffle incident which shows beyond any doubt Obama's indignant refusal to answer difficult questions.|
